Pagoi – the story of the real McCoy . . .

I always hear that domain names are hard to pick because they’ve all been taken. But, I’ve found that if you look for something that is special to you, or use an acronym, that you’ll find a great domain name. I’ve had some great domain names over the years:

  • http://makeitreal.com – or Make it Real dot com.  KO thought it was a great name too. They now own it.
  • http://onyourhead.com  When my step son was passionate about yoga, one of his favorite poses was the Headstand (Sirsasana). Looks like “on your head” to me.
  • http://digitalpizzagroup.com To help organize networking meetings for colleagues tracking video distribution trends (think DVD, Blu-ray, HD DVD and streaming), I came up with this domain. It was obvious that we were a group sitting around talking digital while eating pizza. Obviously, this was before MeetUp made it easy to set up a group getting together over pizza.

When a good friend and colleague of mine was about to join the Peace Corp, he wanted a way to stay in touch with friends and family. I shared my domain naming approach with him and he came up with this one:

  • http://witwia.com – Where in the World is Andy? A Peace Corps Volunteer’s Namibia service.

I started my career working on automated test and measurement systems. When it came time to give a name to this venture in IoT, it was obvious that it should be called “Put a Gauge on It” or PAGOI.

But, the real Pagoi (I rhyme it with McCoy) is a really cool looking ocean front village in Greece. Here’s their wiki.
